    Description

    ABOUT:
Nicely detailed antique silver chatelaine cigar cutter with made by Whiting Mfg. Co with a sterling silver case decorated with ornate Art Nouveau swirls on both sides. Note the button has fallen out but it still functions well. (More condition notes below.)
The retractable snipper tool looks to be steel as it shows some discoloration and signs of rust from age.  The cutter is spring loaded so it presses closed to complete the cut, then has a latch that catches the bottom of the blade to hold the sharp tool partially into the case (probably for safety reasons).  Originally, you would push the button on the side of the case to release the latch and allow the cutter to fully open to insert the cigar, but since the button is missing, you have to manually move the little latch to allow the cutter to fully open.  I actually have the little button that I can send along in case it can be fixed, but right now when you insert the button into the hole, it just rattles and falls out the cutter.  I don't think gluing it would work without ruining the blade, but I do have it to send if desired.
The piece with measures 2 inches in height.  It is 7/8 inch wide with the snipper tool extended.
CHAIN NOT INCLUDED but I do have some delicate sterling chains in 18 and 24 inch if you'd like to add one to your order.
    MARKS:
Marked with the Whiting hallmarks, "Sterling" and 3095 on the bottom of the cutter.  It also has another hallmark indicating it was imported from America into Europe.
    IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition. As mentioned above, the push button to retract the snipper tool has fallen out.  I have it and can send it along, but was not able to get it reinserted and functioning.  Piece does still function as is, but needs to be manually unlatched to fully open.
Deterioration to the steel blade from age.  Surface wear, scuffs and scratches from use over the years.
But Please note that due to age this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my store.  Thanks for stopping by!
